8(a) Business Development Program Government Contracts

The 8(a) Business Development Program is a federal program designed to help small, disadvantaged businesses compete in the marketplace. Run by the Small Business Administration (SBA), this nine-year program provides participating firms with training, mentoring, and access to sole-source and competitive set-aside contracts. To qualify, a business must be at least 51% owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individual, have a personal net worth below $850,000, and meet SBA small business size standards for its primary NAICS code.
